Courses In Arizona State University – March 29, 2022 Watts College National Security Master’s Program Ranked No. 1 in the Nation
Arizona State University has 13 graduate programs ranked in the top 10 nationally, including one ranked No. 1 in a new ranking just released by the U.S. & World Report.

ASU’s master’s program in national security ranked first in the nation, tied for the Naval Postgraduate School, and ranked higher than those at Harvard and Columbia. Last year, the national security program at the Watts College of Public Service and Community Decisions was ranked third.

Of the top 13 degree programs, seven are in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions. The list was published on March 29 after the magazine evaluated more than 2,150 educational programs for 2023. (Note that some programs are only ranked every three to four years, so not every area is included in the latest ranking.)
Watts College Dean Cynthia Litz said the college has some of the highest-ranked programs in the country.
“It’s great to see our focus on emergency management and national security recognized as one of the best in the country,” Litz said.
U.S. & World Report provides several higher education rankings throughout the year, and last fall ranked ASU as the nation’s most innovative university for the seventh year in a row.

In addition to national security, the other 12 higher education programs at ASU ranked in the top 10, with last year’s rankings in parentheses, are:

Eleven are studying at the W. P. Carey School of Business. In addition to the TOP-10 programs in supply chain management and project management, others: MBA in information systems, No. 11 (7); Executive MBA, equal #13 (18); MBA in Business Analytics, equal #13 (10); MBA in Accounting, tied for No. 14 (12); MBA in Manufacturing and Operations, tied for #16 (11); MBA in Management, equal to No. 16 (16); Correspondence MBA, No. 18 (22); MBA in International Business, equal to #20 (20); and MBA in Marketing divided into 20 (20) places.

The School of Public Affairs has a top 10 program, including a 12 (13) overall program ranking, which compares with seven universities, including Carnegie Mellon, Georgetown, and Princeton, and ahead of Ohio State, Duke, and Columbia. In addition to the seven in the top 10 listed above, the others are public finance at #12 (16) and public policy analysis at #19 (20).
Seven are in the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education, including the program’s 12th overall ranking, tied with the University of Washington and ahead of Johns Hopkins and the University of Texas. The overall program took 11th place last year. Others: curriculum and instructions related to No. 11(14); primary education, No. 12 (7); of special education, No. 12 (11); Department of Education, tie for No. 15 (14); pedagogical psychology, tied to No. 17 (25); and secondary pedagogical education, No. 17 (12).
In addition to the No. 4 Legal Literature program, the other top twenty programs at the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law are: Health Care Law, which is ranked No. 13 (16); dispute resolution, draw for No. 13 (14); and environmental law tied to No. 17 (20).
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering had two programs in the top 20: Environmental Engineering, tied for No. 16 (20), and Industrial Engineering, No. 18 (18).

In addition to the top 10 programs in geochemistry, geology, and environmental sciences, the School of Earth and Space Studies’ overall Earth science graduate programs were ranked 12th, along with Harvard, Brown, Princeton, UCLA. , the University of California, San Diego, and the University of Wisconsin, Madison, ahead of Yale and Cornell. And the geophysics program took 17th place.

Ratings of the U.S. & World Report are based on two types of data: expert opinion about the excellence of the program and statistical indicators about the teachers, research and students of the schools.

In 2021, 4,833 students enrolled for a master’s degree, so the college reported the largest number of students of any university in the ranking.
“Ratings don’t tell the whole story,” said Carol Basile, dean of the Mary Lou Fulton College of Education. “But they tell a story. If a school is consistently knocking on the door of the US top 10, clearly rejecting the culture of selectivity and exclusion that has so warped higher education, it’s probably doing something right. And, apparently, he is doing what is most important right.”
The college ranked No. 11 in curriculum and instruction for its degrees in early childhood education and gifted education, which are offered entirely online. Degrees in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education and Teacher Certification earned the college No. 12 in special education rankings, while the Master of Education in Elementary Education and Master of Education in Elementary Education (Teacher Certification) ranked No. 12. primary education programs.

The college is ranked No. 8 in the U.S. Ranking of Online Degree Programs, making it one of four universities in the top 15 in both the overall graduate ranking and the online master’s ranking (joined by the University of Georgia, the University of Virginia, and the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign).
The college currently offers its graduate teacher education programs in two online formats. Arizona residents can choose between an asynchronous format provided through ASU Online or a synchronous format provided through ASU Sync. Students residing outside of Arizona may attend classes asynchronously. In both modalities, students complete a professional residency in person at schools near their place of residence.
