It only takes a few seconds and all you have to do is go to Etsy.com then click Register to create a username and password.

If you already use Etsy as a customer, then all you have to do is click the “sell on Etsy” button under your profile.

This is really important for store owners who will ship goods to customers. Sometimes buyers filter searches to find local buyers to save on shipping costs so make sure your location is accurate

Now the fun begins. You may already have a cute name for your shop but if you don’t then now is the time to brainstorm something fun.

I say that at this stage it is not worth worrying too much about the name because it is possible to choose a new one at a different stage.

In order to open your Etsy shop, you need to have at least one item ready for sale.

I personally recommend having 5-10 items ready to go so that your shop looks fully stocked from the start.

2000 x 2000 pixels is my preferred size for Etsy listing images. You can put text and images on your images using a free product like Canva.

It can be really useful to have a list of searchable words that describe your item to use in tags and titles.

The more keywords you use in your description and listing tags, the more likely your Etsy listing will be seen by potential customers.

Have a price in mind for your item. Find out how much it will cost to ship your item.

Keep in mind that there will be transaction fees from Etsy as well (20 cents per listing plus 5% transaction fee plus other fees for payment gateways).

It is important to plan your pricing based on what other similar products are selling for as well as what your costs are (materials, shipping etc) to ensure you make a profit.

It’s free to open your store, but you’ll need to add your billing information to get set up and help you on your way to getting paid.

Under the settings tab you can now complete your shop. You can add your photo or the logo of your shop. You can also add a larger “banner image”.

Complete the “about” section to give customers more information about your store and help you stand out from the crowd.

Coupons and special offers are a great way to get your Etsy listings to the top of the search bar.

Etsy will also automatically send coupon codes to people who have favorited your item that can help you get a sale.

Click your store icon at the top of the screen, click on Marketing, and then click on “Sales and Discounts”

Choose the type of offer you want to send (email, storewide coupon code etc)

Fill in all the discount details (duration, discount amount etc). Select the products to which the sale applies and then click on save. Your sale will now be live.
