High level of analytical reasoning ability and problem-solving mindset as demonstrated in academic and/or professional performance.
For MIDS programs, this includes knowledge of data structures, algorithms and algorithm analysis, and linear algebra. Applicants who lack this experience in their academic or work background but meet all other requirements for admission will be asked to complete a short course before enrolling in the Applied Machine Learning course.

For the MICS programme, this includes an understanding of – or, a proven ability and commitment to study – data structures and discrete mathematics which can be demonstrated by at least one of the following qualifications:
MIDS: Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python or Java, must be demonstrated through previous work experience or advanced courses. Applicants who lack this experience in their academic or work background but meet all other admission requirements will be required to take the Introduction to Data Science Programming course in the first term.
MICS: Knowledge of at least one, and ideally two, programming languages, such as C, C++, Python, Java, Javascript, or machine/assembly language as demonstrated by work experience or courses. Applicants who lack this experience in their academic or work background but meet all other admission requirements will be required to take the Programming Fundamentals for Cybersecurity course in the first term.

Online Masters In Data Science
Online I School students are assessed the program tuition fee, which is charged per registered course unit, and the Berkeley campus fee, which is charged per registered semester. Online master’s programs are 27 units each. Students are also assessed a Document Management Fee, which is a one-time fee charged in the first term of registration.
In addition, for each program there will be an immersion fee of USD $500. Students will also be responsible for the cost of hotel accommodation during the immersion and travel to and from the immersion. Fees may change each academic year; New fees typically take effect in the fall term.
¹Tuition, fees, and charges shown here are estimates based on current approved amounts. This number may not be final. Actual tuition, fees, and charges are subject to change by the University of California Regents and may be affected by State funding reductions. Accordingly, the final approved level (and thus the final student balance due) may be different from the amount shown. Students should expect fees to increase moderately each fall term.
The University of California, Berkeley is a world-renowned public research university located in Berkeley, San Francisco Bay Area, California. UC Berkeley was founded in 1868. Thailand ranks among the top five universities in the world and is one of the top public universities in the world. How did I choose this master’s program in data science over MOOCs, certificates, and other universities, and why is it reasonable?
The Scientific Mindset
Someone approached me this week to ask my perspective on UC Berkeley’s Master of Information and Data Science (MIDS) program. It is a part-time online master’s program that I have been active in for the past year. “Overall, I’d love it if you recommend it in terms of price vs. value,” he said, “and if you’re exploring other programs how did you end up choosing MIDS?”

“Overall I would love if you recommend in terms of price vs value – and if you explore other programs how did you end up choosing MIDS?”
Two years ago, when I was evaluating several data science program options, including Berkeley, I had the same question. Why should anyone pay higher fees to pursue a formal master’s program in the age of MOOCs and self-directed learning? Among master’s programs, Berkeley is not the cheapest. The University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne (UIUC) offers a similar program for only $20,000, while the Berkeley program is closer to $70,000. So is it true? When I searched for answers online, I could only find a few outdated Quora posts on the matter with less than useful information. I did a quick search today, and I saw a similar post. So I thought I’d give you the insider scoop, now in the summer of 2020.
Simpson’s Paradox And Its Implications In Data Science
, as a current student who completed a little more than half of the program. Whether the program is valuable to you will depend on your personal circumstances and goals, but in sharing mine, I hope your decision is made easier.
A little about me: my career has always been at the intersection of business judgment and data analytics. As one of the few SQL-savvy people in KPMG’s Risk Advisory practice and Uber’s Internal Audit team (in Finance and Accounting), I translate law into questions, crystalize stories from data that support Audit recommendations. I used Benford’s law, keyword search, and basic statistics to identify fraud schemes and other risks, and I took pride in solving complex puzzles with data.
However, I have found that simply diagnosing past events is neither efficient in the long run nor intellectually satisfying. In 2017, I’ve been enjoying the extra flexibility I’ve learned
